Back in late 2016, Instagram gave its users the ability to bookmark posts made by others for later viewing. While the feature itself may prove useful to some users, one problem that many have with this feature is that it lumps all bookmarked posts into the Saved section.

For those who would like to organize their bookmarks into specific folders, the version 10.16 update for the Instagram application will introduce a Pinterest-like feature called “Collections” to the mix.

Here’s how you can utilise this feature:

  1. Go to your profile, tap on the Bookmark icon and select the Collections tab.
    save collectionssave collections
  2. Choose to open a new Collection by tapping on the “Create Collection” prompt, or via the Plus icon located at the upper right hand corner of the screen.
    name collectionname collection
  3. Once you’ve created a Collection, you’ll be prompted to move some of your saved posts into the Collection.
    list of collectionslist of collections
  4. You’ll also be able to bookmark posts directly into the Collection by tapping and holding the Bookmark icon located under a post.
